UCU backs Fobzu Summer Appeal

For the first time, Fobzu's summer appeal has been sponsored by the UK's leading higher education union. The University and College Union (UCU), which represents over 100,000 university and further education lecturers organised the printing and delivery of the appeal to hundreds of Fobzu supporters across the country.

Fobzu appeals remain the primary source of income for the organisation, funding our scholarships and advocacy work. The decision by UCU was taken following a the passage of a motion at the 2016 congress recognising the contribution of Fobzu and calling on the union to 'to help promote and extend these important scholarship initiatives.'

“One of the practical ways for UCU to provide solidarity with the Palestinian people is to help support Palestinian students attend university or college, either in the UK or in occupied Palestine," commented Rob Copeland, International Policy Officer at UCU, adding, "we, therefore, were delighted to help support this year’s FoBZU scholarship appeal and your wider campaign to ensure that the voice of Palestine’s next generation is heard in the UK.”
